Get Success in Life
This infographic talks about when people are successful. There is no perfect time to start doing something where you have an interest.
As you can see from the infographic above most of these people became successful in their 30s, but you can also find success later in life like Ray Kroc, McDonald’s founder.
Expand Your Mind
Do you know you become smarter when you are out of your comfort zone? If you spend less quality time at that point of struggle, and more time in your comfort zone you will not Get Success in Life. The time you spend challenging your struggle far outweighs the time you spend in your comfort zone.
Practice on the edge of your ability, reaching over and over again, making mistakes, failing, realizing those mistakes and reaching again.
Our minds evolved by doing things, not by hearing about them. By all means, engage in lots of positive thinking about how likely you are to Get Success in Life.
Believing in your ability to succeed is enormously helpful for creating and sustaining your motivation. But whatever you do, don’t underestimate how difficult it will be to reach your goal.
Excuses, successful people know that it will not change anything. Even justified reasons will not make you successful. When things go wrong, the wanting to be successful person sees it as an opportunity.
Believe You Can Change
To go from ordinary to extraordinary. The average person looks for and responds to positive feedback, and the extraordinary person looks and responds to negative feedback.
An examination of motivation accounts for the shift in feedback: positive feedback increased the ordinary commitment, and negative feedback increased the extraordinary sense that they were making insufficient progress.
Focus on what you will do, not what you won’t do. Do you want to lose weight successfully, quit smoking, or put a lid on your bad temper?
Plan on how you will replace bad habits with good ones, rather than focusing only on the bad habits themselves. Research on thought suppression has shown that trying to avoid a thought makes it even more active in your mind. The same holds true when it comes to behavior — by trying not to engage in a bad habit, our habits get strengthened rather than broken.
Knowing what you want to achieve and have a passion for, keeps you motivated until you get there. Also, think about the specific actions that need to be taken to reach your goal.
Be as accurate as possible, know when and where you will take each in advance. Studies show that this kind of strategic planning will help your brain to detect and seize the opportunity when it arises, increasing your chances of success by roughly 300%.
By all means, engage in lots of positive thinking and read positive quotes about how you are to achieve your goals. Believing in your ability to succeed is enormously helpful for creating and sustaining your motivation.
But whatever you do, don’t underestimate how difficult it will be to reach your goal. Most goals worth achieving require time. Thinking things will come to you quickly and effortlessly leaves you ill-prepared for the journey ahead, and significantly increases the odds of failure.
Try to become better, rather becoming good. Believing you have the ability to reach your goals is important, but so is believing you can get the ability.
Assuming that you can change will allow you to make better choices, and reach your fullest potential. People whose goals are about getting better, rather than being good, take difficulty in stride and appreciate the journey as much as the outcome.
Have Some Dog in You
I had used this quote before that I heard one of my friends Harry Weaver III, said about what his coach said he said “if you are going to play this game you gotta have some dog in you son. “Ain’t no substitute for having’ some dog in you!”
As an adult, my friend and I both, realize that he was speaking about football, not for the sake of football, but as an allegory for life. He was dead on. And like Harry says “Thanks, Coach.”
Having some dog in you is to commit, and to persist in the face of difficulty. Studies show that determined people obtain more education in their lifetime, and earn higher college GPAs.
Determination shows which cadet will stick out their first grueling year at West Point. In fact, grit even predicts which round contestants will make it to at the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
The Flip Side to Being the Best?
In general, extraordinary people were so caught up in the pursuit of their work mission that they sacrificed all, especially the possibility of a rounded personal existence. The decision to pursue one’s passion and the sacrifices each makes differs from person to person.
It involves an ascetic existence; in some cases, it involves a self-imposed isolation from other individuals (Einstein, Graham); in Picasso’s case, as a consequence of passion not respected. Passion can include an outrageous exploitation of others.
Unless passion is fueled compulsiveness, the talent may be compromised or even lost. And, indeed, at times when the emotions are relaxed, there may well be negative consequences for the individual’s creative output.
Einstein lived in self-imposed isolation; Freud had an ascetic existence, and Picasso became a selfish monster.
