I Bought A $70.00 bag Of Coffee. At the time of this writing, I was not feeling so good. Because I bought a $7o.oo bag of coffee. It is not a large bag: enough for seven one-cup servings. So you may ask, why did I do it?
Well, it was purchased online and here is how it happened. It was the presentation and the promotion that made the deal for me. I think it is the way a lot of online marketing promotions are presented online and on TV as well.
Affiliate Disclaimer: I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post.
The offer sounded good enough to be true. It was straightforward and had bonuses that came along with the deal. I thought it was a way to get some coffee and a coffee maker inexpensively. However, some stipulations had to be honored to complete the transaction. The requirement was to commit to a long-term contract that included payments.
Are these promotions designed to be misleading? I think the manipulation is wrong. When you say one thing at the beginning of an ad campaign and twist it into something different at the end of the campaign is not what I consider good business.
I bought a $7o.oo bag of coffee
You know I thought I was a pretty savvy marketer as far as the internet goes, understand I don’t consider myself a guru by any means, but as far as what internet marketing is about, I know more about it than most the people after doing it for a while now.
Is This Internet Marketing?
With that said I still bought a seventy dollar bag of coffee. Why, because of the marketing. That is if you include the small print and the underlying message hidden in the campaign as marketing.
What do you think? I think you need a lawyer to verify some of these ads. This type of advertising is used only to make a profit from the masses without any regard for honesty, or integrity. It is a DISHONEST scheme.
The Laws That Govern The Internet
Internet marketing opened up an entirely new area of law, dealing with new matters, not previously known and some although known, are treated differently on the Internet.
However, for those of us who are looking to get sustainable, long-term results for our websites as well as the websites of our clients understanding the ins and outs of the internet can go a long way towards success!
So, if you use the Internet for business, to make purchases, or even only interested in working or playing on the Internet, you should have some knowledge of laws that may affect you.
According to US Legal, Inc. Fraud is the broadest category of cybercrime. Fraud includes many types of criminal activity, ranging from credit card abuse, wire fraud, and business fraud to misrepresentation and the failure to deliver purchases.
The Federal Trade Commission monitors and regulates Internet commerce, and it maintains advice for avoiding fraud at its website: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/menu-internet.htm.
Federal Bureau of Investigation investigates and prosecutes cybercrimes. In partnership with several federal agencies, the FBI maintains the Internet Fraud Complaint Center online for accepting complaints at http://www1.ifccfbi.gov/index.asp. – See more at http://internetlaw.uslegal.com/internet-crime/fraud/#sthash.SohvmVSn.dpuf
Here are some of the internet governing organizations
IRTF (Internet Research Task Force)
ISOC (Internet Society)
Cultural diversity, legislation jurisdiction and human rights between nation’s, states and other factors must be accountable because all of it plays a significant role in enforcing internet governance by way of content regulations.
A Thorough and Clear Definition Of Internet Laws Is Needed
Although internet governs with regards to content regulations stirs much controversy because their regulations do not cover all efficiently. There is a common belief; that what is illegal offline, should remain unlawful online.
All of the governing bodies, international laws, and cyberspace itself, are here because of the internet, I think this is a blatant example of putting the cart before the horse.
So as far as that $70.00 bag of coffee I bought goes, I must realize that the senses that alert me to offline fraud, are suitable for online fraud as well. To put it plainly, if you want the internet governed, govern yourself.
