Tips for Working at Home

Legitimate businesses do not ask fees as a condition of employment. Most work-at-home scams do. If you are asked to pay a fee, you are probably being scammed. Get comfortable, to do so puts you in a working frame of mind.

People who work from home are cut from a different cloth in comparison to the 9 to 5 worker. There is a mental toughness that is required. Make sure you’re ready for the journey.

Even when you are working with your purpose in life (passion), you can not do it alone. You will want to consult with others for some reasons. It is all about staying in touch with like-minded people.

About Maurice Jackson

Hello, my name is Maurice Jackson I live and, started my business in Detroit. My intentions are, to help any and every one with affiliate marketing as a home business, become a successful professional. My first career was working for the city of Detroit as an inspector, where I thought I would retire. But life brings change and surprises. I sustained an injury that led to an earlier retirement than I had planned. With that said I reinvented myself in April of 2014 and, became part of an affiliate program. Within the time of my reinvention leading up to the present, I am generating lots of traffic to my website and it grows every day. ROI has been minimal but then again I invested nothing to start. I am at the point of letting my site mature, as I keep writing quality content about it. In this business, you have to pay your dues. Furthermore, I and the rest of our family (become a member and you will see the family side of it) of 109000, including the founders of the program (yes they participate), will see to it that we all will be making a substantial amount of revenue as members

I think personality is very important to working at home as well. I absolutely love working at home, regardless of if it is for a passion or a paycheck, but I know some people who just like being in an office better. Be honest with yourself about your comfort level and your motivation. Being organized and motivated is the most important thing!

Today as more and more businesses farm-out many of their tasks to outside vendors this opens the door to many entrepreneurs seeking a work from home environment. This can be very beneficial to families with small children and the price of daycare. You also pointed out the tax savings of having a home business. This can be really big, like several thousand dollars a year.
Another approach is to do both, keep the job that pays the bills and start a home business, first as a hobby and turn your passion into extra income. If a consistent income can be earned, turn the hobby into a home-based business. You have included several important things to consider when making a decision on working from home. It can be a benefit for everyone if your tips are adhered to.

    Hi Maurice,
Great post for finding how to start your online business. I like the way you broke it all down in a simple manner, easy for anyone to understand. I wish you much success in your business so you will be able to Not wear your shoes if that is your choice 🙂

This is actually my second time reading this article. The last time I was on your site browsing and I came across this great post. It really got me thinking about a few things. 1. Looking at all those pros really reaffirms and validates why I am doing what I am doing 2. The cons really gave me some motivation to keep it up! lol. The tips at the end were helpful as well. What do you suggest for making sure you stay on top of things and are doing the amount of work you should be doing? Thanks.

I never really considered a few of the Cons you mention about working from home: that your boss only judges you on what you produce, not your work ethic… and that you can fall into the trap of either working too much (because it’s always there and you NEED to make it profitable, I guess) or working too little (too many distractions). Good points!
For me, I have 2 big challenges to working from home: 1) my busy toddlers won’t leave me alone long enough to even open my computer when I’m around, and 2) I’m an introvert, so going to work where there are other people around is very healthy for me… it pushes me to socialize! If I worked only from home, while it sounds appealing, I’d probably never really talk to anyone else other than my kids and husband!
    Interesting food for thought, thanks!

    Hi Maurice,
Great list of pros and cons. I’ve tried working at home for others, and I just didn’t like it. But building my own business online, doing something I love, is definitely the way to go. Now I just have to get more organized with my time haha.

Home business is a dream for everyone who want to be free from 9 to 5 leaving the home job. But actually the jobs we must do to achieve our goals are many more than office jobs. So it is more working time than 9 to 5 office jobs. It is a 24/7 job because we must be a director of our own business. If we don’t feel like that there must be because there is no goals or dream.

This is such a great post outlining some very real pros and cons for those who work at home.
I left my job after having my son and although I love it and would much rather be working on my home business than working for a company, you are right when you say it needs to be a business that lights a fire in you and motivates you to get out of bed each morning and go for it.
Also there is trying to wrestle your time between your dream and a very adventurous toddler!

“Staying organized is a must do” – I agree 100%. It’s easy to end up spending more time on business from home rather than in a real life 9-5 work.
    Thank you for sharing!

I work as an engineering consultant Maurice. I have been working for other people for over 20 years now but last year I got a chance to work from home for several weeks (was supposed to be more).
It was brilliant, I felt like I had achieved some sort of major victory over life.
probably because one of my main goals in life (i had been joking about for years) was to get a job where I didn’t have to wear shoes.
I wasn’t working for myself but working for a passion sounds like next level life mastery.
Gotta go read some more of your work.
